Login Requirement

Browsing of products, game systems, and content add-ons does not require logging in. However, account login is required to checkout – or even to add most items to the cart.

Once logged in, any purchased product licenses are associated with that account, as are any unlocked game systems and/or content. After purchases are made, your account provides an overview of everything you have access to and a history of the orders you’ve placed.

Classic Users: Existing Classic users must create and log in to a free account that will securely track both your old and new licenses and purchases. Once created, please hook up your existing Classic license to the account as a one-time operation. You can then purchase Classic add-ons for your existing license and/or new product options. There is no requirement to utilize Hero Lab Online.

Gift Purchases

If you’re purchasing items for your personal account, please be sure you’re logged in and proceed with your purchase.

Purchasing Hero Lab Online or Realm Works as gifts is fast and easy too! You can even add enhancements, add-ons, and/or content to products, making it simple to build a custom-tailored bundle for your fellow gamer. Just be sure you’re logged out of your personal account and start shopping!

When you are logged in, new purchases are typically added directly to your account and unable to be gifted. In addition, the options you’re given to choose from are influenced and/or limited by what you already own.

Gift orders always start with a product license. From there, you can add whatever enhancements, add-ons, and/or content you wish. Simply build your order as if you were purchasing it for yourself. Once your order is assembled the way you want, check out to complete the purchase. You’ll receive an email with all the details, including an activation code for each product license purchased. You can then give the activation code to your intended recipient, or you can forward the email (or an redacted portion of it) to them.

The gift recipient can activate each product normally, creating a new account if needed. All of the extra options you included in the order are automatically tied to each product when it is activated. Further options can be added by the recipient after the license has been activated.

Important Tips

Hero Lab Online supports multiple game systems, so new subscribers often select both a service plan and the game(s) they wish to access. There are three service levels available, which are summarized below:

Patron Service - Created with GMs in mind, the Patron service builds on our Standard offering with the ability to enable content sharing in your campaigns. Sharing can be applied to up to four campaigns simultaneously, allowing everyone in those campaigns to share their purchased content.
The Patron service plan for new users provides six months of initial service at a $5 savings over the normal price and can be renewed at 6-month or 12-month intervals.
Standard Service - Geared for the everyday player or GM, most users start here. Select your favorite game system and any add-on loot (rules supplements or adventures) to purchase. The material is unlocked at checkout, and you're ready to set off on your character creation adventure. The Standard service level provides a single user access to character creation, encounter options, in-play support across a broad spectrum of devices, Campaign Theater™, and more.
New users save $5 off the regular price for Standard service, which is renewable at 6-month or 12-month intervals.
Apprentice - The Apprentice account not only allows you to manage your interactions with various Lone Wolf Software but also lets you sample our wares with Hero Lab Online free-to-play options! With open access to Patron run Campaigns, free basic character creation (Cleric, Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard), and 1st level character creation for more complex classes, this is sure to be the most valuable free account you own.

Every adventure is better with a friend! The Cohort option ensures that one lucky individual you designate can use all your add-on content to create characters on their account. This is ideal for a close friend, immediate family member, or even a dependent who has their own games to join. No matter who you bestow your loot upon, only one of you has to own the add-ons, and both of you get to play.

Please choose the service level that best suits your situation. If you choose the Standard service or Patron service, you must also choose at least one game system to unlock. Additional content options can be added for the game system(s) you select, as well.

Here are a few additional tips for using your accounts:

Game systems and additional content are one-time purchases that are forever unlocked to your account. Only the service plan incurs a recurring charge, regardless of how much content you've unlocked.
You can add new game systems and/or rules supplements to your account at any time.
You can adjust your service plan over time, upwards or downwards, subject to certain limitations.
If your service should lapse, you still retain the ability to view what you've created (characters, campaigns, etc.).
